Blood transfusion is required due to surgery, trauma or disease conditions. Blood Transfusion Technologist must have the expertise:
* In testing the blood group of patients and donors (Blood Grouping Test)
* In testing patients’ blood and donors’ blood to determine the compatibility of the donor’s unit of blood for its intended recipient (Blood Compatibility Test)
* In testing patients’ blood and donors’ blood to determine the compatibility of the donor’s unit of blood for its intended recipient (Blood Compatibility Test)
To carry out tests to investigate the cause of a transfusion reaction, if any.
